Deleting your songs or your account

Your songs are yours. You can delete any part of what you've written without closing your account, and you can close your account entirely. There are three routes, and you don't have to ask permission for any of them.

Delete some of your data

Your account stays, and everything you don't delete stays with it. In the app you can remove, one piece at a time:

  • Any song — it moves to your bin, where you can put it back or delete it for good.
  • Everything in the bin at once, with Empty the bin.
  • A voice recording or demo attached to a song.
  • Cover artwork or a photo you uploaded.
  • A setlist, without touching the songs in it.
  • A share link, which stops anybody using it.

A song deleted for good, and anything emptied from the bin, is removed from our database. It is not kept in a hidden archive.

Delete your whole account

Sign in, go to Account, and choose Delete my account for good. It asks you to confirm, then removes your account and every song, section, chord, setlist, demo, recording, upload, share link and setting belonging to it. Your email address and password go with it.

There is no waiting period and no way for us to put it back, so print or save anything you want to keep first. Sign-in sessions end immediately.

If you can't get in

Lost your password? Use Forgotten your password? — the link lasts an hour and can be used once.

If you still can't sign in, write to anita.cadence@gmail.com from the email address on the account, saying what you want deleted — some of it or all of it. Requests are answered within 30 days, and usually within a few days. We may ask one question to be sure it's your account, and nothing else.

What is kept afterwards, and why

Nothing about your songs. Server logs that record that a request happened — without your lyrics in them — roll off by themselves within 30 days, and routine backups are overwritten on their own cycle. If you paid for anything, the payment record itself is held by the payment provider for as long as tax law requires; we can't delete their copy, and it contains no part of your songs.

The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Keep Cadence on your home screen
